At the start of the module, I was curious about how deeply it would explore various teaching strategies for biology. I anticipated gaining a clearer understanding of how to apply these methods in my regular classes. As the module progressed, I developed a stronger grasp of several biological concepts, particularly in genetics. One of the most intriguing aspects was Design Thinking, which enhanced my ability to structure my lessons thoughtfully before teaching them.

There were moments when certain activities proved challenging, especially when it came to recording lessons. I had to put in extra effort to complete the tasks, as the timing of the topics didn’t align with our regular classes. This required me to coordinate with other teachers to arrange extra sessions. However, overcoming these obstacles was ultimately rewarding, as it strengthened my problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

The module also provided an opportunity for personal growth. It pushed me to become more self-directed in my learning and helped me improve my time management. Moreover, the experience sparked a deeper interest in exploring new educational apps to enhance my teaching. In one reflection, I wrote: “More than the activity or the lesson, I, as a teacher, need to sense my students’ emotions toward learning, especially those who are very quiet.” This realization showed me that teaching goes beyond just delivering content; it’s about connecting with students to make the subject more engaging and relevant to them.

Looking ahead, I believe the insights gained from this module will be invaluable. It has not only deepened my understanding of biology but also encouraged me to think critically about its societal implications. Overall, this biology module has been both challenging and enriching, broadening my perspective as a biology teacher. I am grateful for the knowledge and skills I’ve gained, and I am excited to continue exploring the field.
